Camera vs. Lens

"A common error many people make is to buy the most expensive camera they can afford, and then equip it with an inexpensive lens."  DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY ESSENTIALS by Tom Ang

You will hear more often than not that the lens is more important than the camera itself for top notch photographs. Don't be suckered into buying a camera with endless fancy gadgets and gimmicks that you probably don't need and won't use. Make a list of what you can't live without and then spend time researching cameras with those items you want on your camera. Talk to photographers as well and listen to what they have to say. A few excellent photography books might also help you decide.
